| Description |
VINTAGE NOTES:
Spring was cool but dry and bud break was a little later than average. This cool soon gave way to warm weather with lots of sun. The summer was hot and dry with drought stress becoming evident in August. Fall was warmer than average with only a few days of rain.
VINIFICATION:
Grapes were harvested by hand and in perfect condition, then destemmed, crushed and fermented in small batches, using three selected yeasts. During fermentation, the cap was punched down by hand three times per day for the first 10 days and then twice a day for the remainder of ferment. A gentle pressing using a small basket press after 20 days of contact. Wine was aged in small oak barrels for 12 months prior to wine being bottled. This wine was bottled unfiltered and unfined.

This is a pretty, even-handed syrah that showcases lovely berry-plummy fruit with background pepper, smoked meat and other common syrah enhancements. Very even on the palate, firm but not austere with solid fruit and well integrated tannin. This is a wine that showcases fruit quality in this vintage. A couple of years in bottle could open it up. Best 2011 to 2014.
